    REPORTER ANNE SHANNON IS HERE WITH THE LATEST. ANNE: NEWS 8 HAS CONFIRMED THAT DR. SYBIL KNIGHT-BURNEY IS STEPPING DOWN. ACCORDING TO SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER CARRIE FOWLER, KNIGHT-BURNEY SENT AN E-MAIL TO HER CENTRAL STAFF THIS MORNING ANNOUNCING HER INTENTIONS TO LEAVE HER POSITION. KNIGHT-BURNEY SERVED AS SUPERINTENDENT FOR ABOUT TEN YEARS. SHE'D BEEN WORKING WITHOUT A CONTRACT FOR THE LAST YEAR JUST LAST WEEK, THE HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT WENT INTO RECEIVERSHIP WHICH MEANS THE POWER OF BOTH THE SUPERINTENDENT AND SCHOOL BOARD IS LIMITE PENNSYLVANIA STATE EDUCATI ASSOCIATION WHICH REPRESENTS HARRISBURG'S TEACHERS REACTED T THE NEWS SAYING IN PART, WE FEEL THIS IS A VERY GOOD FIRST STEP -- FIRST STEP FOR HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT TO GET BACK THE RIGHT PATH. A CHANGE IN ADMINISTRATION WAS CLEARLY A TOP PRIORITY AND WE ARE GLAD TO SEE THAT IT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED SO QUICKLY. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S SPOKESPERSON RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING THAT THE DISTRICT CANNOT COMMENT ON PERSONNEL MATTERS. THE DISTRICT IS HOLDING A SPECIAL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT AT 6:00 AT THE LINCOLN ADMINISTRATION BUI
